چکیده

A beamforming algorithm, the Conjugate Gradient, is applied to a base station array, in the up-link, for UTRATDD. Micro-cell, street type, propagation scenarios are considered, using a Wideband Directional Channel Model. Groups of mobile users are placed at different distances from the base station, along the street axis. The average beamforming gain is analysed, varying the number of array elements, the distance of users from the base station, their number and grouping. The desired signal and interferenceplus-noise powers have different evolutions along optimisation, due to the composition of the correlation matrix and the algorithm’s cost function. Allied to the high number of arriving correlated signals, this implies that other than the MMSE solution can lead to better interference suppression, for the tested scenarios. Among the tested scenarios, their influence highly depends on the number of users and their distance to the base station, the time-of-arrival spread overruling the importance of angle-of-arrival spread for larger number of users, closer to the base station, e.g., from 4 to 16 mobile users at 50 m or 1 000 m from the base station, the beamforming gain can be degraded by near 4 dB or 2.3 dB, respectively, for 12 array elements.

3D Beamforminmg Methods with User-specific Elevation Beamfoming

In recent years, attentions have been focused on 3D (three-dimensional) beamforming which can improve cell average and edge user throughput and eliminate the interference to adjacent cells. In the work towards calibration of 3D channel model, it seems that elevation beamforming with fixed electrical downtilt of 102 degrees has a good SINR (signal to interference and noise ratio) performance in ...

Efficient Media Access Using Adaptive Array Antennas

Wireless ad hoc networks have traditionally been assumed to use omni-directional antennas. However, it has been recently recognized that the use of advanced antenna technologies could help alleviate the capacity limitations of multi-hop wireless networks, stemming from interference generated in the shared medium [1]. Adaptive array antennas have the ability to automatically respond to an unknow...

UEP MIMO-OFDM with Beamforming- Combining for Imperfect Channel Information

In this paper, unequal error protection (UEP) adaptive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system using orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is considered. Our proposed transmission scheme consists of three stages. The inner stage is a UEP adaptive loading, which is introduced to fulfill a certain UEP profile by distributing bits and power across the unitarily transformed eigenbe...

Optimal transmitter eigen-beamforming and space-time block coding based on channel mean feedback

Optimal transmitter designs obeying the water-filling principle are well-documented; they are widely applied when the propagation channel is deterministically known and regularly updated at the transmitter. Because channel state information is impossible to be known perfectly at the transmitter in practical wireless systems, we design, in this paper, an optimal multiantenna transmitter based on...

Joint Closed-Loop Power Control and Base Station Assignment for DS-CDMA Receiver in Multipath Fading Channel with Adaptive Beamforming Method

In this paper, we propose smart step closed-loop power control (SSPC) algorithm and base station assignment based on minimizing the transmitter power (BSAMTP) technique in a direct sequence-code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) receiver in the presence of frequency-selective Rayleigh fading. This receiver consists of three stages. In the first stage, with conjugate gradient (CG) adaptive ...
